UMH Properties, Inc., was founded in 1968. It is a New Jersey-based Freehold, a self-managed real estate investment trust. The company's main business is to own and operate manufactured housing communities — renting manufactured housing to residents. The company also leases manufactured homes to residents and, through its wholly-owned taxable REIT subsidiary UMH Sales and Finance, sells and funds manufactured homes to residents and potential residents of their communities and places them on customers' privately owned land. In 2022, the Company also established an Opportunity Zone Fund for the acquisition, development and redevelopment of manufactured housing communities that require significant capital investment. The company currently holds a 77% interest in the Opportunity Zone Fund.
