Toyota Motor Corporation is a limited liability company established under the Japanese Commercial Code and continues to exist under the company law. Toyota began operations in 1933 as the automotive division of Toyota Industries, formerly Toyota Loom Factory. On August 28, 1937, Toyota became an independent company. In 1982, Toyota Motor Corporation and Toyota Motor Sales merged into one company, which is today Toyota Motor Corporation. Toyota also operates in finance and other industries. Toyota's business units include the automotive business, the financial services business and all other businesses.
