Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc., is principally engaged in the design, manufacture and sale of household firearms. The company designs and manufactures products located in the United States, and most of the products are for household use. The company has been in business since 1949 and was incorporated under the laws of the State of Delaware in 1969. The company offers three industrial products: rifles, pistols and revolvers. The company's firearms are sold by independent and large-scale dealers, mainly in the commercial sports market. The Company manufactures and sells investment castings of steel alloys and metal injection molded (" MIM ") parts for internal use in the firearms division with minimal sales to external customers. For the year ended December 31, 2017, sales of castings and MIM parts to external customers, either directly or through manufacturer representatives, accounted for approximately 1% of the Company's total sales.
