PGT Innovations, Inc., a Delaware corporation incorporated on December 16, 2003 as JLL Window Holdings, an affiliate of JLL Partners, completed its acquisition of PGT Holding Company on January 29, 2004. The company is a leading manufacturer and supplier of impact-resistant doors and windows for residential buildings in the United States, and pioneered the impact-resistant doors and windows industry in the United States. The company's impact-resistant products, sold under the WinGuard, PremierVue and PGT building systems brands, combine heavy-duty aluminum or vinyl frames with laminated glass to protect them from the strong winds and wind debris of hurricanes by maintaining their structure and preventing penetrative impact objects. Impact-resistant doors and windows meet strict building codes in hurricane-prone coastal states and provide an attractive alternative to shutters and other forms of hurricane protection that need to be installed and dismantled before and after each storm. Combining the impact resistance of WinGuard, PremierVue and PGT building systems with insulating glass to create energy-efficient windows can significantly reduce cooling and heating costs. The Company also produces non-impact-resistant products on aluminum and vinyl frames, including the SpectraGuard line of its products.
