Pan American Silver Corp. is a continuation of Pan American Energy Corporation, which was incorporated on March 7, 1979 under the Corporations Act (British Columbia). Pan American changed its name twice by amending the company's memorandum of association, the last being on April 11, 1995, when it was finalized as Pan American. Before changing its name to Pan American, the company was limited to name changes and capital changes.
Pan American is engaged in silver mining and related activities, including exploration, mine development, mining, beneficiation, smelting and recycling. The company owns and operates silver mines in Peru, Mexico, Argentina and Bolivia. In addition, the company is exploring new silver deposits throughout North and South America. The company's vision is to be the world's leading silver producer with a reputation for excellence in discovery and engineering, as well as innovation and sustainability.
