Marathon Petroleum Corporation was incorporated in Delaware on November 9, 2009. The company is a leading, integrated, downstream energy company. The company operates one of the largest refining systems in the United States, with about 3 million bpd of crude oil refining capacity. The company distributes refined products through one of the largest terminal operations in the United States and one of the largest private fleets of inland petroleum products barges in the country. In addition, the company integrates a network of midstream energy assets, connecting natural gas and NGLs producers in some of the largest supply basins in the United States to domestic and international markets.
