Kirby Corporation was founded in Nevada on January 31, 1969. The company is the largest U.S. tank barge operator in the United States, transporting bulk liquid products throughout the Mississippi River system, the Gulf Coast Intracoastal Waterway, and along all three coasts of the United States. Through its marine division, the company transports petrochemicals, black oil, refined petroleum products and agrochemicals by tank barge. In addition, the company is involved in the dry bulk transportation of coastal trade in the United States. Through its distribution and services division, the company provides equipment, aftermarket parts and services for power generation systems. The company also leases equipment such as generators, industrial compressors, high-capacity forklifts, construction equipment and refrigerated trailers for various industrial markets. The company also manufactures and remanufactures specialized equipment for data centers, oilfield services, railroads and other industrial customers, including pressure pump units and electric fracturing systems, power generation equipment, and specialized power distribution and control equipment.
