Research, development, manufacturing, sales and marketing of fiber cement building materials
James Hardie Industries plc was founded in 1888 as an import business company. In 1951, the company became a state-owned listed company and listed on the Australian Securities Exchange. After becoming a public company, the company built a diversified portfolio of construction and industrial products, including a variety of asbestos-based products. In the mid-1980s, it pioneered the development of asbestos-free fiber cement technology and began to design and manufacture a wider range of fiber cement building products, taking advantage of the durability, versatility and robustness of the products. Taking advantage of the technology and manufacturing expertise developed in Australia, it has expanded its business, especially in the United States, to become a specialized manufacturer specializing in the production of various fiber cement building materials.
