IDACORP, Inc., is a holding company established in 1998 under the laws of the State of Idaho. Its main operating subsidiary is Idaho Power. Idaho Power was incorporated under the laws of Idaho in 1989 and is the heir to a Maine company founded in 1915 and started operations in 1916. Idaho Power is an electric power company engaged in the generation, transmission, distribution, sale and purchase of electric energy and capacity, and is regulated by the state regulatory commissions of Idaho and Oregon and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Idaho Power's utility operations constitute almost all of IDACORP's current business operations.
