Hecla Mining Company
The largest silver producer in the United States
6500 N. Mineral Drive, Suite 200, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, 83815-9408
--
Hecla Mining Company was founded in 1891 in Silver Valley, northern Idaho. The company believes it is the oldest and still operating precious metal mining company in the United States and is the largest silver producer in the United States. The company has offices in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho and Vancouver, British Columbia. The company's production line includes silver, gold, lead, and zinc contained in concentrates shipped to various smelters. The company operates two business segments for financial reporting purposes: the Greens Creek business unit in Admiralty Island, Alaska, and the Lucky Friday business unit in Idaho. Since both of its mines are located in the United States, the company believes that their political and economic risks are lower than those of mines located in other parts of the world. The company's exploration interests are located in the United States and Mexico, respectively, in historically successful mining areas, and the political and economic risks in the area are relatively low.
