In 1990, Granite Construction Incorporated was established as the holding company of Granite Construction Company, and its wholly-owned subsidiary was registered in Delaware the same year. The company is an American private major construction and transportation contractor. The scope of the company's operations includes customer service in the public and private sectors.
In the public sector, the company mainly focuses on heavy-civil infrastructure projects, including the construction of roads, highways, public transport facilities, airport infrastructure, bridges, dams and other infrastructure-related projects. In the private sector, it includes infrastructure services for residential land development, commercial and industrial buildings and other facilities. The company owns and leases a large number of reserves and has some of its own construction material processing plants. The company has one of the largest fleets of heavy construction equipment in the United States.
