Gold Fields Limited is a major producer of gold and a gold reserve company in South Africa, Ghana, Australia and Peru. In Peru, Gold Fields also produces copper. The company is principally engaged in underground and surface gold and copper mining and related activities, including exploration, mining, beneficiation and smelting. The company is also engaged in exploration projects for platinum group metals (and metal-related by-products) in Finland. Gold Fields Incorporated was originally incorporated in South Africa and listed on the JSE Stock Exchange SA in 1968 as East Driefontein Gold Mining Incorporated.
