Federal Realty Investment Trust was established in 1962 as a Caretrust Reit under the laws of the District of Columbia and was reconstituted as a Caretrust Reit in Maryland in 1999. The Company is an equity real estate investment trust (" Caretrust Reit ") specializing in the ownership, management, and redevelopment of high-quality retail and mixed-use properties, primarily located in the northeastern and mid-Atlantic regions of the United States, as well as densely populated and affluent communities in strategically selected metropolitan markets in California and South Florida.
