Firstenergy Corp. was incorporated in 1996 under the laws of the State of Ohio. FE and its subsidiaries are principally engaged in the transmission, distribution and generation of electricity. FirstEnergy's 10 utility operating companies make up one of the largest investor-owned power systems in the United States, serving more than 6 million customers in the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions. FirstEnergy's transmission operations include approximately 24,000 miles of lines and two regional transmission operation centers. FirstEnergy's revenue comes primarily from electricity services provided by utilities and transmission companies.
