Dynex Capital, Inc., was founded on December 18, 1987. The company is an internally managed mortgage real estate investment trust that invests in mortgage assets on a leveraged speculative basis. The company was established on December 18, 1987 and began operations in 1988. From its inception to its establishment in 2000, the business has mainly been various types of loans, mainly single-family and commercial mortgage loans and manufacturing home loans. Since 2000, the company has been an investor in institutional and non-institutional mortgage-backed securities. Institutional mortgage-backed securities, including residential mortgage-backed securities and commercial mortgage-backed securities, accompany the guarantee of principal payments by the U.S. government or U.S. government-sponsored entities such as Fannie Mae Mae and Freddie Mac Mae. Non-agency mortgage-backed securities have no such payment guarantee. The company's main source of income is net interest income, which is the excess of interest income earned on investments that exceeds the cost of funding those investments.
