COPT Defense Properties is an office real estate investment trust primarily serving strategic partners with special requirements in the U.S. government and defense information technology sectors. The Company acquires, develops, manages and leases ownership of offices and data centers located in large office parks. The Company conducts almost all of its operations through its strategic partner, a Delaware limited liability partnership, Common Office Properties. This operating partnership owns real estate directly or through wholly-owned partnerships and limited liability companies. The company also owns 100% equity in a number of real estate, such as property management, construction and development services, mainly for companies, but also for third parties. The company was established in 1988 under the name of Royal Investments and trades on the Nasdaq Electronic Securities Exchange in the United States. In 1998, the company changed its name to Common Office Property Trust and moved to New York.
