Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings, Inc., a Delaware corporation, provides advertising opportunities through billboards, street furniture display boards, transit displays and other outdoor advertising displays such as murals, billboards and mall displays. The company owns or operates the aforementioned advertising displays in a number of important markets around the world. The company's business consists of two statutory operating divisions: Americas and International. As of December 31, 2016, the Company owned or operated more than 590,000 advertising displays worldwide. For the year ended December 31, 2016, the company's consolidated revenue was approximately $2.7 billion, from the company's Americas and International divisions, at $1.3 billion and $1.4 billion, respectively. The company was established in August 1995 as "Elle Media Corporation". In 1997, Clear Channel Communications (Clear Channel Communications), the company's parent company, acquired Elle Media and entered the outdoor advertising industry. The company changed its name to Clear Channel Outdoor Holdings in August 2005. On November 11, 2005, the company became a public company through an initial public offering (IPO). During its IPO, the company sold 10 percent of its Class A common stock, or 35 million shares. Before its IPO, the company was an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Clear Channel Communications.
