Buenaventura Mining Company Inc., was established on September 7, 1953 as a Peruvian limited joint-stock company by public deed. The company is the largest publicly listed precious metals company in Peru. It is engaged in the exploration, mining and processing of gold and silver in Peru, and to a lesser extent the exploration, mining and processing of other metals. The Company currently operates Julcani, Recuperada, Orcopampa, Poracota, Uchucchacua, Antapite, Ishihuinca, Shila-Paula, Mallay and Breapampa Mining, and has controlling interests in three other mining companies, Operates Colquijirca, Marcapunta, Tantahuatay and La Zanja mining. It also owns power transmission companies and engineering services consulting companies, and has non-controlling interests in several other mining companies, including significant owner interests in Yanacocha and Cerro Verde. Among them, the former is a Peruvian partnership that operates the largest gold mine in South America, and the latter is a Peruvian company that operates a copper mine in the south of Peru.
