Blackrock Health Sciences Trust was incorporated as a Delaware Statutory Trust on January 19, 2005 by agreement and declaration of trust, later amended and restated and governed by the laws of Delaware, and commenced operations on March 31, 2005. The fund is registered as a diversified, closed-end management investment company under the 1940 Act. The fund's investment objective is to provide total return through a combination of current income, current income and long-term capital appreciation. The Fund aims to achieve this by investing primarily in equity securities of companies engaged in health science and related industries, as well as equity derivatives with exposure to the health science industry.
