Foreign Trade Bank Of Latin America, Inc .'s mission is to provide comprehensive support to Latin American foreign trade while creating value for its shareholders. The bank is primarily engaged in providing trade finance to selected commercial banks, middle market companies and companies in the region. The lending and investment activities of banks are financed by interbank banks, mainly from local central banks and financial institutions, by borrowing from international commercial banks and, to a lesser extent, by selling bank debt securities to financial institutions in Asia, Europe, North America and local. The bank does not offer small fractional banking services such as small savings accounts or checking accounts, and does not accept small fractional savings. The bank was established on the proposal of the region's local central bank governors organization in May 1975, which proposed the creation of a supranational institution to increase the region's foreign trade financing capacity.
