BankUnited, Inc., established on April 28, 2009, is a savings and lending holding company. It has two wholly-owned subsidiaries: Union Bank and Union Bank Investment Services. The former is a large independent depository institution based in Florida, and the latter is an insurance company that provides comprehensive wealth management products and financial planning services. The company has launched a wide range of loan products to meet customer needs, including small commercial loans, residential mortgages, commercial real estate loans, equipment loans and leases, term loans, asset-backed loans, municipal leases, letters of credit and commercial limit loans. As part of its lending activities, the business is also buying residential loans nationwide.
