Benchmark Electronics, Inc., formerly known as Electronics Inc., began operations in 1979 and was legally incorporated in Texas in 1981 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Intermedics Inc. Its parent company is a manufacturer of medical implants based in Angleton, Texas. Benchmark Electronics is a global provider of integrated electronics manufacturing services to original equipment manufacturers of computers and related products. (The related products can be used in commercial enterprises, medical equipment, industrial control equipment, test and measuring instrument products and telecommunications equipment, etc.) The services provided by the company are often referred to as electronic manufacturing services (EMS). From initial product design to mass production, the company provides customers with comprehensive and integrated design and manufacturing services, including direct fulfillment of orders and post-deployment services. Its manufacturing and assembly business includes circuit board printing and subsystem assembly, machine assembly and system integration, subsystem integration process, and often downloads and integrates software to produce a fully configured product.
