Armour Residential Reit, Inc., organized in Maryland in 2008, is an externally managed business that invests in and manages a leveraged portfolio of residential mortgage-backed securities (MBS). The company invests in securities issued or guaranteed by government-sponsored entities in the United States of America (GSEs), such as the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae Mae), the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac Mae), or guaranteed by the Government National Mortgage Administration (Geely Mae) (hereinafter collectively referred to as "agency securities "). The company's securities portfolio consists primarily of home loans backed by securities institutions with fixed rates. Sometimes, part of the company's assets can be invested in institutional securities backed by hybrid adjustable-rate and adjustable-rate housing loans and unsecured notes and bonds issued by U.S. government-sponsored entities (agency bonds), U.S. Treasuries and money market instruments, and as a Caretrust Reit, it must pass certain income tests.
