Allison Transmission Holdings, Inc., was incorporated in Delaware on June 22, 2007. The company and its subsidiaries design and manufacture vehicle propulsion solutions, including commercial on-road, off-road and defense fully automatic transmissions and electric hybrid and all-electric systems. The company was founded in 1915 and has been headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana since its inception. The company is the world's largest manufacturer of fully automatic transmissions for medium and heavy commercial vehicles and medium and heavy tactical U.S. defense vehicles, and a leader in electrified propulsion systems. Allison products have a wide range of applications, including road trucks (distribution, garbage, construction, fire and emergency), buses (mainly schools and transportation), RVs, off-road vehicles and equipment (mainly energy, mining and construction applications), and defense vehicles (tactical wheels and crawlers).
