Acadia Realty Trust was incorporated on March 4, 1993 as a Maryland Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT). The company is a fully integrated REIT company. Its main business is the ownership, acquisition, redevelopment and management of high-quality commercial retail real estate. Under high market entry barriers, it has strong commercial retail value in urban/infill mixed-use real estate along the east coast of the United States and in densely populated metropolitan areas such as Chicago. The Company currently has ownership of these properties through its core portfolio as well as opportunity funds. The Company also owns minority stakes in other related retail real estate private equity investments. All of the company's assets and its project execution are concentrated in Arcadia Real Estate LLC (its work partner) and the entity interests of the work partner.
