Washington Trust Bancorp, Inc., a publicly registered bank holding company and financial holding company, was organized under the laws of Rhode Island in 1984. Bancorp owns all of the issued common stock of Washington Trust Company (Bank), a Rhode Island-chartered commercial bank. Bancorp was established in 1984 under a reorganization plan to issue common stock outside the bank in exchange for Bancorp common stock. Through its affiliates, Bancorp provides individuals and businesses with a wide range of financial services, including wealth management. Washington Trust manages its business through two business units, Commercial Banking and Wealth Management Services. Activities that are not related to the sector, such as investment portfolios, wholesale financing activities, and are considered administrative units of the company.
