SpartanNash Company is a Fortune 500 company headquartered in the Grand Rapids Valley, Michigan. The business mainly includes three parts: average, video, distribution and retail. The company is a leading regional food distributor and food retailer, mainly operating in the central region, and is the largest distributor of military commissaries. The company's core business includes video distribution to military commissaries and communication personnel, and it independently owns retail stores in 47 states, as well as stores in the Columbia region, Europe, Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Azores, Bahrain and Egypt. Founded in 1917 as a cooperative grocery distributor, Spartan turned into a for-profit commercial company in 1973. In January 1999, Spartan Department Store began to acquire retail supermarkets in key areas. In August 2000, Spartan common stock began to appear on the Nasdaq Stock Market under the symbol SPTN. On December 19, 2013, Spartan merged with Spartan Stores, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nash Finch and Nash Installment. Nash Staging's core business includes video distribution to military commissaries and independent food retailers, as well as corporate-owned retail stores. Each acquired Nash Installment Company's stock is converted into 1.2 shares of the company. The company's common stock will be backed on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol SPTN.
