Sandy Spring Bancorp, Inc., is the holding company of Sandy Spring Bank. The company was registered as a bank holding company under the Bank Holding Company Act, as amended in 1956. Therefore, the company is regulated by the Supervisory Board of the Federal Reserve System of the United States. The company began operations in 1988. Sandy Spring Bank, founded in 1868 and located in Maryland, is the oldest bank. The Bank is an independent, community-oriented bank that handles a full range of commercial banking through 42 community service offices located in Anne Arundel, Carroll, Frederick, Howard, Montgomery and Prince George's Counties in Arlington, Fairfax and Lawton Counties, Virginia. The bank is a nationally chartered bank regulated by the Federal Reserve Board and the State of Maryland. Bank deposit accounts are guaranteed by the Deposit Insurance Fund managed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and are permitted by law.
