Retail Opportunity Investments Corp. was established in October 2009 as a fully integrated, self-managed Caretrust Reit. The company was re-registered in Maryland on June 2, 2011. The Company specializes in the acquisition, possession and management of necessity-based communities and community shopping centers in the western and eastern regions of the United States, primarily national and regional supermarkets and pharmacies. The company has its target assets as investment targets. It seeks to acquire densely populated, supply-constrained metropolitan markets in the western and eastern regions of the United States, which are targeted by growing populations and rising incomes, but are also difficult to enter. The Company's senior management team has been operating in the Company's target markets for 25 years and has established an extensive network of relationships with key institutional and private owners, brokers, financial institutions and other real estate operators in these markets. The company's deep regional market knowledge and professional skills give it a unique competitive advantage in identifying and selecting investment opportunities, even in markets that it has not been involved in.
