Research Frontiers Incorporated was founded in New York in 1965 and re-established in Delaware in 1989. Since 1965, the company has been actively engaged in developing and licensing its own SPD technologies and protecting them with patents, trade secrets and know-how. The company operates in a single business unit that develops and sells technology and equipment to control optical flow. The Company develops and licenses patented Suspended Particulate Devices (SPD-Smart) light control technology to other companies that manufacture and sell the following products: (i) SPD-Smart chemical emulsion, (ii) light control film made from chemical emulsion, (iii) light control panel made by laminating the film, (iv) electronic equipment that powers the final product containing the film, or (v) bonding service, And the final products themselves, such as "smart" windows, sunroofs and sunroofs. The company currently has more than 40 companies that are licensed in total to serve five major SPD-Smart application areas (aerospace, construction, automotive, marine and display products) in every country in the world.
