The Company is a commercial mortgage real estate investment trust (" Caretrust Reit "). The Company's primary investment objective is to provide shareholders with attractive, risk-adjusted returns over time, primarily through ongoing current income dividends and distributions, and secondly through capital appreciation. The company intends to achieve this by originating, constructing and investing in first mortgages secured by commercial real estate properties and alternative structured financings. The company's current portfolio consists primarily of senior loans to state licensed operators in the cannabis industry.
