Phoenix Motor Inc., was incorporated in Delaware on October 12, 2020. The company introduced their first mid-size electric drivetrain in 2009 and sold their first commercial electric vehicle in 2014. In 2015, the company began offering more body options on the Ford E 450 chassis, supplying flatbed trucks and work trucks to U.S. Naval Base Port Venem in Ventura County and Irvine, California, respectively. In 2018, the company signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Creative Bus Sales and Forest River to build and distribute electric buses. The two sides are jointly preparing to complete the testing of the Altoona electric shuttle bus product, which will allow the transportation agency to use FTA funds to purchase vehicles.
