Central North Airport Group was established in 1998 under the Mexican government's plan to hand over Mexican airports to private operators. Central North Airport Airlines operates 13 airports in one major metropolitan area, three tourist destinations, seven regional centers and two border cities. As the 13 airport operators franchised by the company, the company charges airlines, passengers and other users for the use of airport facilities. The company also collects rent and other income from commercial activities at its airports, such as rentals for restaurants and retailers.
