MGP Ingredients, Inc., founded in Kansas, is headquartered in Atchison, Kansas.
The company was founded in 1957 and took over the business of Cloud L. Cray, Sr., since 1941. The company produces some ingredients and products required by wineries from wheat flour and corn respectively, mainly serving the consumer goods industry.
The Company has three reporting divisions: Ingredients Solutions, Winery Products, and Others. The products of its Ingredients Solutions segment mainly include specialty starch, specialty protein, commercial starch and commercial gluten. The winery product segment includes food-grade alcohols, a small amount of fuel-grade ethanol (commonly known as alcohol), and distiller's grain feed (a by-product of winemaking products). Some other products are manufactured from plant-based polymers and wood-based composite resins through the further processing of certain starches, proteins and wood pellets. Prior to the sale of the Kansas City plant, the company's other businesses included pet-related products, mainly extruded vegetable resin and finished products for pet snacks.
