Gladstone Land Corporation is an externally managed agricultural property trust principally engaged in the business of owning and leasing agricultural land. The company was re-incorporated in Maryland on March 24, 2011 and was originally incorporated in California on June 14, 1997. They usually do not own their own property; however, they currently lease (temporarily) their wholly-owned subsidiary on a farm in California. Before 2004, they were engaged in farmland ownership and leasing and agricultural operations, engaged in agriculture, contract planting, packaging, sales and distribution of fresh berries, including commission sales and contract cooling services to independent berry growers. In 2004, they sold their agricultural business, and since then, their business has been simply leasing the farm to a third-party tenant. They currently own a total of 7,417 farms in nine states with a total area of 63,175 acres (Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oregon and Washington). They also own several farm-related facilities such as cooling facilities, packaging plants, processing facilities and various storage facilities.
