Infinera Corporation provides optical network equipment, software and services to communication service providers, Internet information providers, cable TV operators and underwater network operators worldwide. Facing the increasing demand for high-speed Internet access, 3/4 mobile broadband, commercial Ethernet services, cloud computing services and large-scale bandwidth services, service providers have deployed optical networks. In 2004, the company took the lead in introducing the Infinera digital optical network architecture for service providers, which is based on the optical network platform composed of Infinera's unique optoelectronic integrated circuits. Infinera Manufacturing Company believes it is the only commercially deployed large-scale PICs in the world. The company's third-generation PICs, commercialized since 2012, transmit and receive at a rate of 500 gigabits per second, incorporating more than 600 discrete optical functions into a pair of PICs. Their PICs are combined using the Flex coherent process to provide coherent optical transmission, and combined with an efficient optical transmission network (" OTN ") to provide service providers with highly scalable transmission capacity and a combination of easy-to-use bandwidth management tools for simplified network operations. The company was established in December 2000.
