Gentex Corporation is a major supplier of self-dimming rearview mirrors with camera-based fill light capabilities that are supplied to the global automotive industry. The Company also provides commercial smoke alarms and signaling devices for the North American firefighting market, as well as dimmable aircraft windows for the commercial and general aviation markets. The company's largest operating division includes the design, development, manufacturing and marketing of interior and exterior auto-dimming rearview mirrors that use the company's proprietary electrochromic technology to reduce the amount of light entering the rearview mirrors in proportion to the headlights of the running vehicle. The company has multiple marketing locations around the world and ships its products to every corner of the world. More than half of the interior mirrors sold by the company have advanced electronic features. The company also manufactures some non-automatic dimming car mirrors with electronic features. The company was founded in Michigan in 1974.
