Emcore Corporation and its affiliates mainly provide investments in compound semiconductors, providing products for the single, optical fiber, satellite and solar power markets. The company was founded in 1984 as a New Jersey company and is mainly involved in two parts: fiber optics and solar cells. EMCORE's fiber business segment provides optical components, subsystems and high-speed communication systems, cable television and fiber-to-the-home networks, as well as satellite communications equipment, video transmission and specialty optoelectronic technologies for defense and homeland security. EMCORE's solar photovoltaic business segment provides products for space power technology, including multi-cell solar cells, cover glass interconnection units, and complete miniature solar panels, as well as concentrating photovoltaic power systems based on high-efficiency gallium arsenide solar cells.
