Electra Battery Materials Corporation was incorporated on July 13, 2011. On September 4, 2018, the company continued to exist under the CBCA. On December 6, 2021, the Company changed its name from "First Cobalt Corp." to "Electra Battery Materials Corporation". The company is in the business of producing battery materials for the electric vehicle supply chain. The company focuses on establishing a rational supply of cobalt, nickel and battery precursor materials. The company has two major assets — a refinery in Ontario, Canada, and the Iron Creek cobalt-copper project in Idaho, USA. It also controls some cobalt camp properties in Ontario.
