Coinbase Global, Inc., was founded in Delaware by Brian Armstrong and Fred Ehrsam in May 2012. On December 15, 2025, the company's registered place was changed from Delaware to Texas. The company is a digital currency exchange that brokers transactions in Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, Litecoin, Tezos and many other cryptocurrencies, using legal tender in about 32 countries and Bitcoin for transactions and storage in 190 countries around the world. Coinbase is currently the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the United States by transaction volume. Almost all of Coinbase's revenue comes from BTC and ETH transactions.
