Chemung Financial Corporation was incorporated on January 2, 1985 under the laws of the State of New York. The purpose of the Company is to acquire Chemung Canal Trust Company (the "Bank "). The bank was established in 1833 under the name Chemung Canal Bank and was subsequently licensed by the State Bank of New York in 1895. Through the bank and CFS Group companies, the Company provides a wide range of financial services, including inquiries, savings and time deposits, commercial, residential and consumer loans, letters of credit, wealth management services, employee benefit plans, brokerage services and insurance. Bank income is mainly derived from interest and loan fees, which are used for investment securities, fee income from wealth management groups and fees for deposits and services.
