C & F Financial Corporation is a bank holding company incorporated under the laws of the State of Virginia in March 1994. The company owns all the equity of its only operating subsidiary, Citizens and Farmers Bank (C & F Bank). C & F Bank is an independent commercial bank operating under the legal charter of the State of Virginia. The bank started operations on January 22, 1927 under the names of Farmers and Mechanics Bank. The bank has the following five wholly-owned subsidiaries, all incorporated under the laws of the State of Virginia:
C & F Mortgage Corporation and its wholly-owned subsidiaries, Hometown Settlement Services LLC and Certification Assessment LLC
C & F Finance Corporation and its wholly-owned subsidiary, C & F Remarketing LLC

C & F Name Institutional Corporation
The company operates three main businesses in a decentralized manner: (1) retail banking business of C & F Bank, (2) bank mortgage business of C & F Mortgage Company (C & F Mortgage), and (3) consumer finance business of C & F Finance Company (C & F Finance).
