Century Aluminum Company is a leading global producer of primary aluminum, operating several aluminum smelters in the United States and Iceland. In addition to the primary aluminum business, Century Aluminum holds a 55% joint venture stake in the Jamalco bauxite mining and alumina refinery in Jamaica, with the remaining 45% indirectly held by the Jamaican government. Century Aluminum's share of Jamalco's production capacity is about 770,000 tons per year. The company operates a carbon anode production plant in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, which supplies carbon anodes for aluminum production at its smelter in Glenda Tangi, Iceland. In addition, every smelter in the United States produces anodes at its in-plant facility.
