Bancfirst Corporation was incorporated in Oklahoma and is a financial holding company under federal law. It operates through its main wholly-owned subsidiary, BancFirst, which is headquartered in Oklahoma City, is a state-chartered bank, and nearly all of its operations are conducted in Oklahoma. The Company also owns 100% ordinary shares of BFC Funding Trust II (Delaware Business Trust), Council Oak Partners, an Oklahoma limited liability company engaged in investment activities, and 100% ordinary shares of BancFirst Insurance Services, Inc., a corporate entity that operates as an independent insurance agent. The company was incorporated as a United Community Corporation in July 1984 with the purpose of becoming a bank holding company. In June 1985, it merged with seven Oklahoma bank holding companies that have co-owned and operated the company since then. Over the next few years, the company acquired other banks and bank holding companies, and in November 1988 the company changed its name to BancFirst. On April 1, 1989, the company consolidated its 12 subsidiary banks to form the BancFirst Group. After decades of development, the company continued to expand its business through expansion and acquisition of de-novo branches. The company currently has 99 service points throughout the 53 communities in Oklahoma.
