ACI Worldwide, Inc., a Delaware company established in November 1993 as ACI Holdings, is the successor to Applied Communications, Inc., which was acquired by the Company from Tandem Computer on December 31, 1993. The company develops, markets, installs and supports a range of software products and services that are primarily used to facilitate electronic payments. In addition to selling its own products, the company also engages in the distribution or sales agency business of software developed by third parties. The users of these products and services are mainly financial institutions, retailers and electronic payment processors in domestic and international markets. The Company sells its products through a distribution network covering the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the Pacific. Each distribution network has its own sales force to complement independent dealers and distributors. The company's products are usually sold under the brands ACI Global and ACI Payment Systems.
