New Gold Inc. was incorporated as DRC Resources Corporation on January 31, 1980 under the Corporations Act (British Columbia) and on May 10, 2005 under the Business Corporations Act. On June 1, 2005, the company changed its name to New Gold Inc., effective January 1, 2012. New Gold completed the merger with its wholly-owned subsidiaries Silver Quest Resources Ltd., Geo Minerals Ltd., and Richfield Ventures Corp., pursuant to the Act. The combined company continues to be called New Gold Inc. The Company is an intermediate gold mining company engaged in the acquisition, exploration, development and operation of minerals. New Gold has been a natural resource exploration and development company engaged in the acquisition, exploration and development of natural resource assets since 1980. An important aspect of New Gold's business strategy is the pursuit of disciplined growth through mergers and acquisitions.
