The E. W. Scripps Company was founded in 1878. The company serves viewers and businesses through more than 60 local TV stations in more than 40 markets and a national news and entertainment network. The company's local TV stations have programming agreements with ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox. The Slips Network reaches almost every American through the national news media Slips News and Court TV as well as popular entertainment brands ION, Bounce, Grit, ION Mystery, ION Plus and Laff. All of the company's local TV stations and national entertainment networks reach consumers wirelessly, and they continue to expand their TV networks and local brands across the free streaming platform. The company has also long served as the manager of one of the largest, most successful and longest-running educational programs in the country, the Slips National Spelling Bee. In addition, the company offers a TV viewing device called Tablo that allows families to watch and record dozens of free wireless and streaming channels anywhere in the home without a subscription.
