The National Steel Company was established on April 9, 1941 under the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil. In terms of crude steel production in Brazil and Latin America, the Brazilian National Ferrous Metallurgical Company is one of the largest fully integrated steel producers in the world. At present, the company's annual crude steel production capacity and rolled product capacity at the President's Vargas Steel Plant are 5.6 million and 51,000 tons, respectively. In comparison with 2014, the crude steel output of the President's Vargas Steel Plant increased by 7%, while the production of steel products remained stable. The company also has operations in mining, cement, logistics and energy, which have become increasingly important in its business. The legal and commercial name of the National Ferrous Metals Corporation of Brazil is the National Ferrous Metals Corporation of Brazil.
