The Marcus Corporation was founded in 1935 from the purchase of a cinema in North Yorkshire, Wisconsin, and is principally engaged in two businesses: cinema and hotels and resorts. Headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the company is a leader in the lodging and entertainment industry. Its film division, Marcus Theatres, is the sixth-largest theater chain in the United States and currently owns and manages 993 screens in 79 locations in Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota and Ohio. Its lodging division, Marcus Hotels and Resorts, owns and manages 11 hotels, resorts and properties in 917 states.
