Founded in 1999, Peoples Bancorp of North Carolina, Inc., is the holding company of Peoples Bank. The Company is registered with the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System as a bank holding company under the Bank Holding Company Act of 1956 (as amended). The company's main source of income is dividends paid by individuals to banks. The company does not operate the management business on its own, but rather makes money from Peoples Bank and Community Bank Real Estate Solutions, LLC. Therefore, unless otherwise stated, the following business is carried out by the bank. Founded in 1912, the bank serves residents and businesses in the Catawba Valley and surrounding communities through 20 banking offices and is a state-chartered commercial bank. The bank is an affiliate of Peoples Bancorp, Inc. The bank has two subsidiaries — Peoples Investment Services, Inc., and Real Estate Advisory Services, Inc. Through its relationship with Raymond James' financial services firm, Peoples Investment Services provides investment advisory and non-deposit investment products to the bank's clients: stocks, bonds, mutual funds, tax-deferred annuities, and related brokerage services. Real Estate Advisory Services provides real estate appraisal and real estate brokerage services.
